Is Movie World's new Hero Parade worth seeing on a rainy day? For us, yes. On our day trip from Brisbane to the Gold Coast on Saturday 31 October 2026, it rained, so the performers didn't ride their little cars. They walked the parade route on foot under the covered street instead, in new outfits, and we got close enough for high fives.

The plan for the day was simple: Movie World first, then a stop at Costco and a shop at Coomera on the way home. Living in Brisbane, the Gold Coast theme parks make an easy day out, and this time the parade was the main thing I wanted to see.

I talked about the day first on my Cantonese podcast, Brisbane真好. The video has English subtitles and uses only my own clips and photos.

What is the new Hero Parade at Movie World?

It is Movie World's new daytime parade, and it has changed style. In the new format, the performers ride small electric cars, a bit like the ride-on cars kids have, as they move along the street.

That was what I came to see. The rain had other ideas.

What happens to the Hero Parade when it rains?

When we went, the performers walked instead of riding. There were no cars at all, so I didn't get to see the new ride-on format.

The good thing is that they still came out. They walked a full lap under the covered part of the street, stopping to wave and slap hands with kids along the kerb. In a way it felt closer than a parade on wheels, because they were right there at the edge of the crowd.

Which heroes are in the new parade?

All the outfits were new. We saw Green Lantern, Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Robin and Harley Quinn with the Joker, plus Scooby-Doo, Velma and the Looney Tunes crew with a group of dancers.

Were there more heroes than before, or fewer? Honestly, I'm not sure. Some of them were new to me, but I couldn't tell you whether the line-up had grown or shrunk. Either way, there was something new to see.

Is Movie World busy on Halloween?

Yes, it was busy. There was Halloween stuff on that day, so the atmosphere was great and the crowd was big.

Plenty of people came dressed up. We didn't. I don't really do Halloween, and dressing up isn't our culture, but we went anyway and enjoyed the parade.

Where do we shop after Movie World?

The main reason for the trip was actually Costco. After that we went to Coomera and bought an air purifier.

What stood out was the service. At Coomera, the staff had time to help us. When I go shopping at Westfield Mt Gravatt, it is so crowded that nobody looks after you, because the sales staff are flat out.

Is the Hero Parade worth it on a wet day?

I think so. You lose the new cars, but you still get the performers, the new outfits and the high fives, and the covered street keeps everyone mostly dry. Rain didn't stop the show. It just changed it.

If you have been to Movie World lately, I'd like to hear what you thought of the new parade: more heroes, or fewer?

All photos are my own, taken on the day with my phone. Faces of the crowd and park staff are blurred; the performers and characters are shown as they appeared in the public parade. AI helped me edit the English.
